Travel for Writers

2013

ESTB

Global Getaways for Creative Creatures
ABOUT THE RETREAT

The purpose of this writing retreat is to be in a community of writers, to be part of craft classes and group discussions, and to write. We work with writers in any genre hoping to make significant process over the duration of the trip.  Writers at any stage of the process are encouraged to attend.

Your day will start in workshops, and then you have time to write, experience the magic of the sequoias, and enjoy yourselves in nature. All meals will be provided and we will eat as a group, but if you need some time alone, you can split off.

One month before the retreat, each writer is encouraged to submit a short piece to be discussed in the daily workshop.

Writing workshops will be led by Kate Gale, poet, author, editor, and co-founder of Red Hen Press.

Publishing, media, and marketing workshops will be led by Tobi Harper, Marketing Director of Red Hen Press and Instructor in Editing and Publishing at UCLA Extension Writers' Program.

Event coordinator and photographer, Emily Petrie will be onsite to assist during the retreat.  She will also be offering author portraits.

The Sequoia Retreat Center offers scenic hiking, nightly campfires, and a meditation labyrinth for you to enjoy during your stay.
